About The Position

Recruitment & Training Specialist


The Recruitment & Training Specialist position, contributes to the Human Resource Department and assists with multiple human resource management functions; including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, training, and compliance. The Recruitment & Training Specialist position helps to set the tone of a positive, safe work culture that is performance driven to ensure company success.

Essential Functions:

  • Implements recruitment strategies, to build a pipeline of candidates. Utilizes  community connections, recruiting events, online presence, and employer branding techniques to proactively recruit talent.
  • Identifies and implements effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Collaborates with the HR Manager and Department Managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Completes candidate phone screens, schedules and leads in interviews, conducts reference checks, and documents the process.
  • Updates and continuously improves the applicant tracking process. 
  • Collaborates with the Hiring Manager and the HR Manager during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Conducts new hire orientation to ensure all required documents are completed correctly, the Employee Handbook is reviewed, and all new hires are provided with a welcoming environment that supports Strouse’s organizational culture.
  • Coordinates the employee onboarding process, and continuously improves and standardizes the process.
  • Participates in developing standardized training programs (internships, apprenticeships, career development, and other training initiatives.).
  • Identifies areas of opportunity for training, coordinates, and records Strouse’s training initiatives for all departments.
  • Leads the implementation of the QT9 training system and streamlines the training process.
  • Monitors and maintains Strouse’s training system to ensure compliance with third party requirements (Auditors, Grants, etc.)
  • Develops and facilitates HR and safety training.
  • Documents and tracks Strouse’s safety committee meetings and initiatives.
  • Participates in implementing the Employee Engagement Plan with Human Resources.
  • Prepares timecard reports and assists with benefit enrollment. Assists the Human Resources Manager when requested, while upholding confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Promotes a positive work culture.
  • Contributes to the creation, improvement, implementation, documentation, and performance of the processes and procedures of The Strouse Corporation Quality Management System.

Competencies:

  • Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and compensation and benefits. 
  • Communication skills including but not limited to, talking to others to convey information effectively. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Discerning appropriate information to communicate, exercising sound judgement and upholding confidentiality and ethical practice at all times.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality.

The physical demands described herein are those that must be met by an employee (with or without reasonable accommodation) to successfully perform the essential functions of the Recruitment & Training Specialist position:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Computer Proficiency:  Microsoft Office Products
  • 1- 3 Years of Recruiting Experience
  • Commitment to Ethical Practice

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Human Resources, Business Ethics, and Employment Law Coursework Completed
  • Track record of successful recruiting experience with high retention rates
